HAVlife Grants
To prevent lost potential in youth ages 10 to 15 through the support of participation in athletics, music and the arts.
The Bettendorf Community Schools Foundation has partnered with the HAVLIFE Foundation.
Hunter Vondran was a student at Sudlow Intermediate in Davenport, IA, whose life was cut too short by an accident in 2004. He was a quarterback on the football team, an honor student, involved in the school choir, and believed in experiencing life to the fullest. In the spirit of sustaining Hunter's life philosophy, parents Mike and Brenda Vondran created the HAVlife Foundation in his memory. The purpose of the Foundation is to encourage intermediate-aged students to pursue their talents in extra-curricular activities such as athletics, music, and art and provide the means to make more opportunities for students happen.
HAVlife Foundation issued BCSF its first grant of $7500 to be awarded/distributed to Bettendorf students during the 2012-2013 school year. Since then HAVlife has issued the Foundation funds annually to be awarded to students. The Foundation has formed a HAVlife Committee to review student nominations and award scholarships to students between the ages of 10-15 that need assistance covering the cost of sports equipment, musical instruments, summer camps and more.
As of November 2012, a combined effort with Athletic and Fine Arts Booster Clubs and community donors were able to raise $7,500 for a donation which qualified for a matching $7,500 grant from HAVlife. Both groups agreed and are thrilled to have an opportunity to serve the future students of Bettendorf High School.
Please join us in nurturing and helping those students with possible “lost potential” gain it through exposure to arts, music, and athletics. To nominate a student for a scholarship, please fill out an application and submit it to the Foundation for review. Applications are due by the 15th of each month.
